Puerto Rico: How Career Star Group Partner, Career Transitions Inc., is helping employees back on their feet in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria

Late September of this year, Hurricane Maria left Puerto Rico devastated. It caused widespread power outages, destroyed crucial infrastructure, and left many struggling to access clean water for themselves and their families.

As with any traumatic situation, the damages caused by the hurricane left an emotional shock on those impacted. Which is why Career Transitions Inc., a partner of the global outplacement organization Career Star Group, is helping implement programs to help the Americans hurt by this disaster.

To help employees cope, Career Transitions is offering an Intervention in Crisis Program to companies. This program allows employees and leadership to seek counseling on an individual or group basis, for up to 1.5 hours at a time as often as they need. The counseling provides a safe environment for individuals to share their experiences, and teaches them how to get on the path to recovery.

According to Viviane Fortuño, president of Career Transitions Inc., one of the goals of this program is to help employees remain resilient in troubling times, which will help them adapt to change and make the most out of difficult situations.

In these difficult times, it is especially important for employees to know that they are valued by the company they work for. Providing programs like this one while partnering with charities in the community gives employees an outlet to share their hardships and is a way to give back to the community.
